Dufferin Marsh Community Skate

Every year on the second Saturday in February, the Dufferin Marsh Committe welcomes everyone to the Marsh for skating, hotdogs, hot chocolate and delicious Fair Trade coffee from the Grackle Coffee Company (on Main St in Schomberg).

The ice surface is large enough that there is room for both pleasure skating and a separate area for smaller kids to play shinny.  There is a portable firepit set up on the ice surface, so participants can either skate, nosh on hotdogs and marshmallows, or keep warm with the fire and hot beverages.

Schomberg Fair

Running for 4 days at the end of May, 2019 marks the 169th annual Schomberg Fair.  The Fair is put on by the Schomberg Agricultural Society, and features livestock competitions, BMX demonstraions, a demolition derby, quilting displays and much more.  The event is well supported by both tourists and residents, with the 2018 resident survey indicates that 88% of residents have attended the fair.

Let’s Rock ‘n Roll MS Away

This fun-filled 50’s themed afternoon of good wholesome fun includes a classic Car Show, live entertainment, children’s activities, Elvis, old fashioned B-B-Q, unique vendors….and much, much more.  The 2018 event featured over 200 cars and hosted over 2,000 guests.

Schomberg Street Gallery

The Schomberg Street Gallery is an outdoor exhibition and sale of fine art, set against a backdrop of heritage buildings and century homes in the downtown core of Schomberg, Ontario.  This pedestrian friendly show winds its way down Main Street, featuring works from more than 50 local and regional artists. There is both new talent and some familiar faces.

Whether it’s an original painting to complement your home decor, a unique sculpture, a fine grained wooden bowl, a piece of statement jewellery or a pottery item that will be lovingly used every day, there is something for everyone.

Schomberg Community Bonfire

Every September the Schomberg Agricultural Society invites everyone to join them at the Annual Community Spirit and Bonfire Night. There’s food and entertainment. Dancing, singing and a lot of laughter are par for the course.  With the cool fall air; the great Lions Club food; the hayrides under the Fairground lights and the pumpkin carving contests – it doesn’t get much better than that. There’s a pumpkin carving competions for the kiddies early in the day (at 11 am).

Schomberg Scarecrows

Every October, the entire community comes together for the annual scarecrow competition.  Residents and businesses alike showcase their scarecrow creations for all to enjoy, as Schomberg transforms into a selfie paradise.

A Main Street Christmas

A Main Street Christmas” is held on the first Saturday in December.  There are jugglers, singers, food, crafts, storytrellers and two Christmas parades – the annual Santa Claus Parade in the aftenoon, and the famous Farmers Parade of Lights in the evening.  Approximately 6,000 people attend every year, including 97% of Schomberg residents.
